When you are an illustrator that painted a portrait of a person that was on a cover of FORBS magazine, can you say that you succeeded? Or when you when you work for international companies from the comfort of your own home in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H)?

Even though for most of us the answer to these questions would be YES, Martina is one very modest person which when we asked her to tell us her success story she answered: I’m pretty boring…. Watching Korean variety seems to be my specialty these days… Why would you write about me?

Well, Martina is everything but boring, and for every person in the Balkans she can be a great example of successful young person that shows that nothing is impossible, and that everything can be done if you are just persistent and if you chase your dream!

When the bombing of Yugoslavia started in 1999 she moved to B&H, and from there her academic adventure starts.  First she got a scholarship for one of the most prestigious high schools in the world, United World College in Mostar, and then she got a Shelby Davis Scholarship to study at Ringling College of Art and Design in Florida. After graduation, to everyone’s surprise Martina decided to leave USA and come back to Europe to live her European Dream, because as she says: There is no place like home.

One of the projects that Martina worked on, and that was the most interesting to us, was the Monster Project, when kids were asked to draw monsters and then artist from all over the world would recreate them! Martina explained to us that the point of the project was to encouraged children to recognize the power of their own imagination and to pursue their creative potential.

In the end, Martina can say for herself that she is not successful, but our reply to that is that if you want to know how successful you are, you should just google yourself! When we typed Martina’s name, first google page was all about her and her work!
